ALSO...
I would feel very ungrateful if I didn't give the people who have helped me along the way their propers. Tene' Zaire has been there since I was born, guiding me deeper inside myself and beyond myself. Mike Jones' infinite spirit protects, loves, and adds fuel to my light and self-determination. Malik never lets me let me down. Ruby Nell's prayers are who I am today and will be forever more, and Dr. Patricia Wingard Carson teaches me how to embrace my purpose and release my dreams.
In addition, none of my songs could have been made possible without the multi-talented Artists, Producers & Engineers I have been priveleged to work with. Just to name a few of so many; Spurgen Brown, Ardel, Adrian Dickey, Marc Real, T.I., Kervins Chauvet, Parrish Monk, DangeRuss, Mudnok, Marquee, Jordan, Mo Diggity, Sean Davis, Rico Wade, Matheis "Stafa" Carter, Big Tiny, Nico Solice, Phenom, Young Jeezy, Chargois, Ife' Jie...
I am especially thankful for those who have included me in opportunities working with youth from all walks of life. Wow! They keep my heart pure, and so do you!
- Red Maiden
Me, Prince & the Guitar
One of my good friends is part of the Prince fan club in ATL. She had an extra ticket and asked me if I wanted to go. Is my name Red Maiden? Exactly! To my surprise, we got the privilege to be the first people to enter the venue (The Tabernacle, ATL). I couldn't believe it! So I chose front center of course, and rested my happy elbows on the stage. As Prince rocked the crowd, he and I frequently met eyes. I'm sure he does that to all the ladies who stand center stage in front of him, but I felt special. LOL But what topped the night off was when he looked me straight in my eyes, hit the last chord, slowly walked towards me, placed his guitar right in front, then gave me his boyish grin before turning his back to me to leave the stage.
I told my friends about it, and all they could say was, "Why didn't you take the guitar!?!"
Bobby & My Soul
I had the honor to witness Bobby record the theme song for his reality show, "Being Bobby Brown." He tried to get me to sing the song with him, but I told him I thought he could sing about himself better than anyone. We talked a little bit about Bobbi Kristina wanting a pink Corvette for her birthday along with other small talk.
During a break within the session though, Bobby and I ran into each other in the hallway. Out of the blue, Bobby approached me, stared deep into my eyes, then sincerely said to me, "Wow. You have a beautiful soul. Never, ever, never let anyone take that away from you."
Then I replied, "I won't. Plus, It takes a beautiful soul to know one."
He smiled, we hugged, and parted ways.
I still carry those words safe in my soul.
The Last Laugh Is Mine
I used to werk for Patchwerk Recording Studios for almost 5yrs. I have a lot ot love for my PWR family.
One of our Producer/Engineers, Nico Solice was working with Young Jeezy over at his Dirty South Studio. He was looking for a female with an unique voice to be the voice of an oracle for his album. Nico suggested me! They called me at PWR, and I dashed over there as soon as I got off work. Young was cool as the breeze. He let me know what it was, and I put it down like it is. Although what we recorded didn't make the album, I heard he plays our song 24/7 off the record.
Later, he had Nico contact me again to do some more work on his newest album. When I got to the studio, I told him thank you for thinking about me.
Then he bluntly said, "I'm going to always think about you, because I believe in you. I need you to help me make these n!##@s think!"
Believe it or not, Jeezy is a conscious rapper, but he's very loyal to the streets.
I guess we'll have to wait to laugh after its all said and done.
